Wildsight is inviting youth aged 14 to 18 to experience a six-day guided wilderness adventure in the Purcell Mountains this summer. Instead of playing video games, surfing the web and watching TV all day, every day, why not get out in the fresh air, get some great exercise, connect with our wilderness paradise and make some wonderful memories at the same time?
Now in its fourth year, the ‘Go Wild Youth Adventure’ hiking trip will give youth all this and more – an opportunity to develop leadership skills, have fun, make new friends and be inspired at the same time.
The adventure will take place from August 20th to 25th and will include professional guides, great camp food and the use of gear like tents and sleeping bags. The cost is $375.
“This is a fully-guided, fully-outfitted backcountry trip, says Dave Quinn, Wildsight’s Purcell program manager. “It is geared specifically for this age group and no previous backpacking or hiking experience is required, although a good baseline level of fitness is a prerequisite, as participants will carry their own backpacks and camping gear.”
“Along the way, we learn some history, some ecology and some vital skills like how to use maps and a compass, how to plan and cook good food in the wilderness, and how to travel safely in the mountains,” Quinn said. “Youth also develop their leadership skills by making decisions, leading their peers, living in a group, facing challenges and accomplishing goals.
Registrations are being taken online at http://www.wildsight.ca or by phone at 250-427-9325.

This is wonderful and something I love to see and hear about!
